Course Title: AutoCAD 2D & 3D Design

Course Overview:

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of AutoCAD, a leading software in the field of computer-aided design (CAD). The course covers both 2D and 3D design aspects, enabling students to create detailed and accurate technical drawings and 3D models. Through hands-on exercises and practical projects, students will gain proficiency in using AutoCAD for various engineering, architectural, and design applications.

Course Content:

  1. Introduction to AutoCAD:

    • Overview of CAD software
    • Interface and workspace customization
    • Basic drawing commands and tools
  2. 2D Drawing:

    • Drawing and editing geometric shapes
    • Layers, colors, and linetypes
    • Dimensioning and annotations
    • Blocks and attributes
  3. Advanced 2D Drawing:

    • Advanced editing commands
    • Hatching and gradients
    • External references (Xrefs)
    • Layouts and plotting
  4. Introduction to 3D Modeling:

    • 3D coordinate systems
    • Wireframe and surface modeling
    • Solid modeling techniques
    • Creating 3D primitives
  5. Advanced 3D Modeling:

    • Boolean operations
    • 3D editing and modification tools
    • Materials and textures
    • Lighting and rendering
  6. Project Work:

    • Applying 2D and 3D concepts to real-world projects
    • Creating architectural or mechanical models
    • Presentation and visualization techniques

Prerequisites: Basic computer skills, familiarity with technical drawing concepts is helpful but not mandatory

  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Class Hours: 2 hours per session, 2 sessions per week
  • Total Class Hours: 72 hours
  • Instructor-Student Ratio: 1:10
  • Assessment: Regular quizzes, mid-term project, final exam, and portfolio assessment
  • Certification: A certificate of completion issued by the BTEB
  • Software: AutoCAD 2D & 3D (students might need to have their own licensed software or use the institution's computer lab facilities)
